P.S. The Diag is the large grassy area in the middle of central campus; the Diag is surronded by North University, State Street, and South University.
Looking for a place to sit outside or walk around during your lunch break or in between classes? The Diag offers a little slice of fresh air and green space right in the middle of Central Campus.
While you may think that you know all about the Diag already, be sure to check out the history of the Diag and to visit frequently during the school year, as there is always something going on!
Not coming from the Chem building? No worries! The Diag is easily accessible from places outside of Central Campus. By bike, the Diag can be visited quickly by using one of the many bike lanes or shared roads on South University, State Street, and North University. Planning out your trip to the Diag by bike from farther away? Be sure to take a look at The City of Ann Arbor Bike Map to help find the right path for you!
Exemplifying how pedestrian travel doesn’t have to hinder urban style, this pedestrian walked three blocks to join in on the celebrations earlier this summer during a Top of the Park event.
This community members was able to enjoy the benefits of both the cycling and pedestrian infastructure in Ann Arbor by biking 6 blocks to The Townie Street Party, and then dismounting her bike and walking around.
Talk about celebrating non-motorized transportation in Ann Arbor!
Part 2 of the Trip from City Hall to Burns park has arrived!
In this section of the trip, we ride from Central Campus around the South University area, and through the Burns Park neighborhood until we reach our final destination: Burns Park.
Want to pick up some cycling tips on how to interact with buses or construction zones, or maybe you just have been away from Ann Arbor for too long and want to see some ol’ familiar scenery - either way, this video is for you!
A Pedestrian and A Cyclist!
This Top of the Park attendee proved that being multimodal is as easy as biking 5 blocks and walking around campus to attend a perfect summer evening in June. While Top of the Park may be dark until next summer, it’s still not too late to bike or take a stroll around campus this summer.
For more information on Top of the Park, or to start planning for next summer please check out their website at: http://www.annarborsummerfestival.org/
I would walk…. 10 blocks to get to you!
All four of these friends used non-motorized transportation to meet up at a Top of the Park event this summer. Like my mother always said, friends that walk together can reduce their C02 emission, tend to maintain healthier weights, and become more aware of the landscape of their own community (my mother never liked short phrases).
Part One of the Journey from City Hall to Burns Park. On this segment we travel along Ann Street and State Street: going from City Hall to Central Campus (U of M).
Stay tuned for PART TWO: Central Campus to Burns Park…. coming soon!
